Winter Activity Ideas

Winter is swiftly upon us but we still have some winter activity ideas for all of you. When the cooler weather arrives we crack out our gloves and socks as well as nice warm coats and then carry on as normal. It’s a little more refreshing but awesome fun as always. White water rafting is perfect for the winter when the river levels are higher and there’s a little more water under the boats.   Our white water raft trips are ideal for people based in the North East especially from Newcastle, Sunderland and Durham. The river Tees and Tyne offer some excellent whitewater for beginner to intermediate rafters.

White Water Rafting on the River Tees

The Classic Abbey Rapids section on the Tees.

The Via Ferrata in the Lake District is ideal for those who don’t fancy hitting the river over December, January and February With three options there is a route for everyone. The most popular Extrem route is full of surprises, conquer exposed rock faces, huge wire bridges, cargo nets and overhangs, not for the faint hearted. The Classic route is still demanding but not quite as exposed and follows more of a scrambling style route. Climb the Mine, is similar but also different. The route winds its way through the old slate mine, traversing the walls, the ceiling and also the old ventilation shafts that feed the mine with fresh air.
